Sugar Mountain Race

Get ready for a thrilling weekend at Sugar Mountain! Our Charlotte Ski and Snowboard Club racers will be charging down the Slalom and Giant Slalom courses, and we’d love for you to be part of the excitement. Even if you’re not racing, you can still join the fun—grab discounted lift tickets to carve some turns of your own, and cheer on our team from the sidelines. It’s the perfect mix of friendly competition, camaraderie, and mountain memories!

• Saturday, January 10: Slalom (2 runs), 9:00 AM start
• Sunday, January 11: Giant Slalom (2 runs), 9:00 AM start

Registration Details

• Opens: Two weeks before the race. To receive an email announcement, sign up for our email list here and add club@CLTsnow.com to your safe sender list. Check your junk folder in case your email provider filters it to spam.
• Deadline: Sunday at 1:00 PM, one week before the race.
• How to Register: “Get Tickets” buttons appear below this description when registration opens.
• Start Order & Bibs: The Crescent Ski Council race committee will create the start list after registration closes. You’ll receive your bib number and details from the CSSC race director later that week.
• IMPORTANT: Only register if you are 100% committed to racing. No-shows result in penalties for our team.

Lift Tickets

• Tickets for racers and non-racers will be sold on the 3rd floor where the race teams gather.
• Final pricing and step-by-step purchase instructions will be sent to all registrants once the race is confirmed.

Who Can Participate?

• Full Racer: Compete on Saturday, Sunday, or both days (annual racer fee + club dues required).
• Qualifier: Run the course Saturday, Sunday, or both days to qualify (club dues required).
• Non-Racer/Spectator: Enjoy discounted lift tickets to go skiing or boarding and cheer on the team (club dues required).

More on Fees and Membership Levels

• Club dues and the annual Crescent racer fee ($40) must be paid before registering as a full racer. Pay your combined club dues and Crescent racer fee here. Choose a “Race Team” membership option.
• The $40 racer fee is not required for qualifying runs or for non-racers/spectators. However, you must still have an active club membership (single, junior, or household), and your club dues must be paid in full.

Qualifying Requirements

To race for the team in a Crescent Ski Council event, you must qualify at either:

• A Crescent race (no racer fee required), or
• A NASTAR race.

Race Day Schedule

• Team Meet-Up: 7:30 AM on the 3rd floor for check-in and bib pick-up.  We meet in the rear left near the entrance to the bar.
• Races Start: Promptly at 9:00 AM both days.  Lifts will be open to racers at 8:00 AM for inspection.
• Plan Ahead: Arrive early to buy tickets, gear up, slip the course, and get paired with a mentor (for new racers).
