PRESIDENT’S UPDATE – AUGUST 2022
Mary Anne Koltowich
Summer is winding down; school is back in. Getting closer to those THINK SNOW days!
Congratulations to the Crescent Ski Council. Our Board members voted on August 18 to approve a well-worthwhile FY22-23 budget increase to support our totally new Crescent website. Our new website is live and is being uploaded with data and documents. It is exciting to see this project come to fruition in such an efficient and professional manner. Our new platform, ClubExpress positions Crescent to be well prepared for the future. Please bear with us as features are activated, and our database gets loaded. Again, much thanks to Jim Bennett (who built the ”skeleton” of the site), John Gardner (who populated much of the content and hopefully our Crescent webmaster soon), Sue Chadwick (who shepherded our website for so so many years), and Ken Lumsden, our Member Services Chair, for leading and coordinating this project.
Fall Conference planning is well underway for our time in Gatlinburg, TN October 28-30, 2022. Hope to see a lot of you there. Hear a couple of clubs are bringing a bunch of people – Yea!
A lot of activities are happening with our member clubs. Just a few are listed in the new Club Corner section. Stay safe out there!
VICE PRESIDENT (Michelle Shuford)
Wow! Fall Conference is right around the corner...didn’t I just see all you folks in April? I have continued to work with Mary Anne Koltowich clarifying assistance in the planning of our upcoming Fall Conference, as well as heading up the Future of Conventions Committee. Margaret Jordan (Columbia), Jodi Stephens (Huntsville), Jennifer Emch (Knoxville), & Frances Edwards (ETMM) have some great ideas for moving forward. We still would love some other voices so please reach out to me if you would like to be on this committee.
I have been working with Jodi Stephens to get her familiar with how Conventions run. We recently were able to revise our contracts with Kingston Plantation and will be moving forward with some new and exciting plans for what this Spring’s Convention will look like. Looking forward to seeing you in the Fall in Gatlinburg. And start praying to Ullr for snow!
TREASURER (Ellen Cortright)
All CSC Membership Dues invoices will be distributed to the President and Treasurer of each club on September 1 via email. Please note that all payments for dues should be received by the Treasurer on or before the first of November.
Each club must submit a membership roster including name and either adult or youth (under age 18) - preferably in Excel format. This roster should include ALL members listed as of the last date of the most recently closed membership year and include the names of all adults and children that were available to participate in any capacity as a member with the club during that membership year.
Last year we had 100% dues paid and lists received by the end of the first week of November. This year's goal is to be 100% by November first.
If you have any questions on the process, or issues with the worksheet that has been sent, please email me at CSCTreasurer8@gmail.com for resolution.
CONVENTIONS (Vacant, report by Mary Anne Koltowich)
Spring Convention 2023 - Mark those calendars now for 2023 – April 27-30!
Fall Conference 2022 - We will be at the Glenstone in Gatlinburg, TN Friday, October 28 – Sunday, October 30. The standard room rate is $109 + taxes. The schedule, lodging, and registration information was sent out to you all last week. You make your own reservations online with the hotel as in previous years. I have already heard from a couple of clubs about bringing a small crowd! This is exciting, and we hope your clubs will support a big turnout too. Our vendors would surely appreciate it! Much thanks to Jodi Stephens (Huntsville) and Jennifer Emch (Knoxville) for taking on coordinator support roles. Jodi will be doing a lot of the food and beverage, and Jennifer will be taking care of registrations.
We hold an Administrative Meeting on Saturday morning. If there are any topics your club would like to address, please send those to me at email@example.com
Mary Anne Koltowich, Fall Conference Coordinator
TRIPS (Lisa Beregi)
Where has summer gone? I can't believe we are at the end of August, and the nights here in the mountains have been cool. But, with cool nights come morning fogs, and we all know for every fog in August is a snow this winter - hold it to truth and we're in for a good local season!
Jackson Hole - The trip is 2 pillows from meeting our contracted attrition. Jackson Hole second payment is due October 1st and final payment due December 10th.
Steamboat - needs more selling! We currently need about 80 more registrations in next couple of weeks, so please share with your members the time to sign up is now. Once we drop space, it will be based on availability to add back and pricing may change. Second payment for Steamboat was due August 1st, and final payments are due October 1st.
NOTE: Steamboat is being run by Sports America Tours and Jackson Hole by Ski Group, so if you have questions please contact the correct TO. With the approval of the new website all information should be corrected and updated. This includes CSC trip information as well as the Club Trip List.
The bid committee is currently reviewing the Adventure proposals, and we will have presentations on the winning Alaska Cruise and Iceland Tour packages at the Fall Trip Meeting. As soon as they finish with these, they will be reviewing the 2024 Ski Week proposals, so we can have them ready to show at Fall too.
