Hello Club Members!
What a month we had in September! Our September 8th Club Meeting was a big success with Appalachian Ski Mountain, Sugar Mountain, and Winterplace in attendance and providing information about their respective resorts. We gave out some lift tickets to Sugar and Winterplace and a free 1 year Club Membership to John Morris in our door prize drawings. There were upwards of 90 people in attendance so let’s keep it up!
We held several Thirsty Thursdays and one Freaky Friday event in September to give Club Members and guests a chance to meet and talk about upcoming events and trips. Charlotte witnessed an impressive President’s Cup victory by the US Team at Quail Hollow Country Club that was viewed by upwards of one billion viewers worldwide. Charlotte is definitely on the map.
September 27th was the last day to sign up for the Crescent Fall Conference in Gatlinburg. We have 13 club members going at the end of the month to enjoy the beautiful mountain scenery, an adventure hike, a Ski Trade Show, and Saturday evening dance with the other 19 Crescent Club attendees! Jace and I will be attending the Crescent Trip Meeting, and John will attend the Crescent Race Directors Meeting. Pat Harvey (Crescent social media) and Lyn Wise (Crescent Secretary) will be there representing the Crescent Ski Council. The next Crescent Event will be in the Spring at the Beach so stay tuned for more information on that in the months to come.
We held our Club Board Meeting on Wednesday, September 28th via Google Teams and covered a variety of topics (Meeting Minutes can be viewed on our website under member login. A new member handbook is being added to the Club website under the Member Section and will include club policies and guidelines on various topics. The Club is in good financial shape, and we are working to provide some great events and trips in the coming months. We can always use more help, so if you wish to become more active in the Club, please contact Tom Grayson (Club President) to discuss participation opportunities.
Our next Club Meeting is on Thursday, October 13th @6:30pm at the Dilworth Neighborhood Grill downstairs in the Baxter Room. We are planning a Ski Fashion Show with some of our local Ski Shops. Come find out the latest in ski wear for the coming season! We will also have a trip table set up where you can talk to trip leaders about our trips this season. As a special treat, we will be showing some highlights for the new Warren Miller Film “DAYMAKER”! A smorgasbord of tasty appetizers will be provided as long as it lasts. Please be considerate of your fellow members and guests as this is not intended as a dinner substitute. Some door prizes will be drawn at the end of the meeting. Please bring a friend! The meeting will be preceded by a Thirsty Thursday upstairs in the bar starting at 5pm (please settle your bill before coming down to the meeting).”
The Club will be hosting the Charlotte Premiere of the new Warren Miller Film “DAYMAKER” on Thursday, November 17th @7pm at the Visulite Theater. Advanced ticket sales will be through the Visulite Ticket Office and sold at the door the evening of the movie. This is only one showing and we have a seating capacity of 210 so get your tickets early! Stay tuned for more information.
With the new Ski Season right around the corner in about 7 weeks (some of the Western Resorts received their first snow of the season in September) the Club Trip Leaders have been busy with our Western Trips. Also, we have a lodging contract signed with Snowshoe for the President’s Day weekend (Feb 17-20, 2023) for our Regional Trip - more info to follow. Additionally, we will be running some day trips to Sugar, Beech, and Winterplace Resorts this season depending on slope conditions.

January 14-21, 2023 – Crescent Jackson Hole Trip – Charlotte Trip Leaders: Tom Grayson and Jace Gates

January 28 to February 4, 2023 – Winter Park Trip, Leaders: Tom Grayson, Charlie and Marcela Brown We have 9 spaces available (3 spaces in condos and 6 spaces available in studios

We have 10+ seats available on group air ($318 RT CLT/DEN) direct flight
This is our best value trip of the season!

There has been some attrition on this trip so sign up for waitlist for a chance to go

3 night minimum staying at Allegheny Springs and Rimfire Lodges
Room Block will be available for individual reservations in the next couple of weeks

Jace was able to add some rooms at the Moose Lodge across from the Ptarmigan Inn
