THE CHARLOTTE BUZZ NEWSLETTER
From The Board
Next Club Meeting - Monday, April 8th, 2019 @ 7:00pm - Don’t miss our next Club Meeting — Monday, April 8 at 7pm at Brewers at Yancey, 4001-A Yancey Rd, Charlotte, NC 28217. There will be free snacks, as always, and great beer. Plus, we will be sharing details of our exciting trip season (Club trips to Aspen/Snowmass, Steamboat and Snowshoe, WV), plus three great trips offered by the Ski Council to which we belong, Crescent Ski Council: Spain, Steamboat ski/ride/race camp, and Sun Peaks in British Columbia, Canada.
One other reason to attend the monthly meetings is to get to know other club members as well as the club leadership team. Make new friends and find buddies who will make your upcoming trips even more fun (or who might end up being a roommate or a ride share).
Club Election Results - The elections were held at the March club meeting, and we have three returning board officers voted into office: Ralph Preziosi, Vice President; Brian Swaney, Treasurer; and David Stoner, Secretary. Mary Christianson ran for and was elected as new President. Mary takes office on June 1, 2019. She is currently continuing to work on the website. Make sure to thank Morgan Mayer for many years serving as President and keeping the club fun and running smoothly! She will serve as past President on the board, and we look forward to tapping her expertise.
2019-2020 Club Trips - 2019-2020 Club Trips roll out for Early Bird Registration on May 1st, 2019 with $100 trip deposit holding your spot. Come to the Club Meeting on April 8th, 2019 to hear trip details and meet folks interested in going on one or more of our next season’s trips!
Now is the time to start thinking about room and condo mates! All rooms are priced double occupancy with single supplement (private room) option available while spaces last. Singles share rooms that may or may not have separate beds. We try to place couples in rooms with one bed and singles in rooms with 2 beds, but typically we will have a couple of condos made up of all singles. In this case, condo mates will draw straws for rooms/beds. There will be a sleeper sofa available as a bail out option so everyone has their own bed. Now is the time to put together your own condo of friends and/or family. Most of our condos (80%) are made up by guest choice (preference). All Club Trips as well as Crescent trips have the same lodging policy.

Don’t Forget to Get Your N.C Real ID - If you have travel plans that include flights, you might want to get your N.C. driver’s license updated. Beginning Oct. 1, 2020, federal agencies will enforce the REAL ID Act, which requires a REAL ID, U.S. passport or another federally approved identification to board commercial flights and enter secure federal buildings. Get more information here: https://www.ncdot.gov/dmv/license-id/nc-real-id/Pages/default.aspx
Time to Check Your Passports, Too! - The Club, and Crescent Ski Council are making plans for international trips. The council has two such trips already planned — to Sun Peaks, British Columbia, Canada in January 2020, and Spain in March 2020. Any international trip may require that you have a valid passport, one that is valid for at least six months after your return date, and one that has two or more blank pages, depending on your destination. Make sure to apply for the passport several months before you need it. More information about international travel here: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/international-travel/before-you-go/travelers-checklist.html
