FROM THE BOARD

Things are really heating up for the coming snow season…and excitement is building among your board members. The team is working to create awesome trips (Snowshoe, Snowmass, Steamboat and Deer Valley), a winning race team, and exciting pre-season events to get you all ready. You can find more information for each of these events at charlotteskiandsnowboardclub.com. Coming up real soon are:

  • Monthly Club Meeting Monday October 14 at Brewers at Yancey in Charlotte — with special guest Dr. Scott Firczak on prepping for the coming season!
  • Club Picnic in Freedom Park Sunday October 27 — RSVP for this fun event on our website and come ready for play!
  • Warren Miller Movie. There will be two showings of Warren Miller’s Timeless at Studio Movie Grill in Charlotte November 18 and 19!
  • NEW! Jingle and Mingle Holiday Party at Brewers at Yancey  on Monday December 9th!
  • Ongoing Dryland Training School sessions most Sundays through December—keep posted for events that club members may join, and if you’re not in this strength- and flexibility program led by Tom Grayson, you’ll want to be doing your own conditioning beginning…. last month!

We hope you all join in these events — whether volunteering, or enjoying the events, or even making suggestions on things you want for coming years. It’s all good, and we are glad to have every one of you as we work to create a great club and a fun season.

Yours,

Mary Christianson, President, 2019-20

  • Racer Discount Pricing: With one of our sponsors - Lange and Dynastar. You have to be a member in good standing to be able to participate.Details to come.
  • Ski Team Kick Off Party - November 14th: - Mark your calendars. Stay tuned for more details.
  • Ski Tuning Clinic: We will be having a ski tuning clinic before our first race. Racers will be amazed at how much better the ski turns in, glides and holds on a real race course like Crescent has us run on. We run on a salted firm surface. Tuning is essential. Jim Kasprzak and I will be having a session on edge prep and waxing for better results. ANYONE can tune their own skis.
