6/1/19 Trip Committee Report

We have a great selection of Club Trips and Crescent Trips coming in 2020!  Our Trip Leaders this season are Jeff Smithberger, Ralph Preziosi, Denver Board, Mary Christianson, and Tom Grayson.  Our Apprentice Trip Leaders are Jace Gates and John Gardner.  Everyone is working hard on making this year’s trips the best ever!  We are setting sign-up records with the Aspen Snowmass Trip on a wait list and the Club’s Steamboat Trip 50% sold in the month of May!

Also, our friend and fellow Club Member Aaron Schorsch is running trips to Hokkaido, Japan and the French/Swiss Alps! The Hokkaido, Japan Trip is on a wait list but there are openings on the French/Swiss Alps Trip March 6-14, 2020.  CSSC Members get a trip discount!  See trip details on our website.

For questions about any of our trip offerings in 2020, please contact Tom Grayson, Trip Chair at tom@tomgrayson.com or 704-906-1110

Club Trips

Up first is the White Water Rafting Trip to Ace Adventure Resorts in West Virginia on the New River August 2-4, 2019.  Cabins are available and the rafting cost is $130 per person and includes all the gear and fees.  See trip details and registration information on the website.  New to this trip is that you can pay trip registration by credit card!

4th Annual Trip to Snowshoe, WV on January 10-12, 2020.  This is our only Regional Weekend Trip of the Season and we are bringing it to you with special pricing.  We will be staying at the Allegheny Springs Lodge again and are looking to have a big crowd this year.  This is a 2 night trip (Friday and Saturday) starting at $422 that includes lift tickets.  A third night is optional on January 9th.  This is an IKON Pass Resort.  See trip details and registration information on the website.  New to this trip is that you can pay by credit card!

Aspen Snowmass Trip February 1-8, 2020.  What else can you say about Aspen except it’s the best! With four mountain resorts to ski and night life that is unbelievable, Aspen is the best!  They are opening Snowmass this weekend for Skiing and Riding in June with over a 50 inch base!  We are staying at our favorite Condos at Top of the Village (slope side) but unfortunately, they are currently on a wait list with 138 people registered.  We have 2 spaces open in rooms at the Stonebridge Inn at the 2018 contract price and we just added 5 more rooms at the 2019 price which is $138 more per person.  The Stonebridge has QQ deluxe hotel rooms, great amenities, and comes with a hot breakfast buffet each morning.  It is in the base area close to shopping and restaurants and is ski in/out.

This trip is capped at 168 spaces.  Club members who wish to acquire their own lodging can tag onto our group rate lift tickets which are very low for Aspen ($400 for a 5 day adult lift and $303 for a 5 day senior (65+) lift) and by paying a $25 trip registration fee.  Group Air will be available from Charlotte to Aspen and Eagle Airports starting in July.  See trip details and pricing options on the Club Website.

Steamboat Trip February 29 to March 7, 2020.  This trip is 50% sold with 38 signed up and is a great value for Skiing and Riding in Prime Time!  We are staying in the Mountain Village at the Lodge in 2 and 3 bedroom condos.  Trip activities include an optional Snowmobile Tour and a day trip to Winter Park.  Ralph, Denver, and Mary are working hard planning fun mixers and parties.  This is going to be a fun trip!  Group Air will be available from Charlotte to Hayden and Denver Airports starting in July.  See trip details and pricing options on the Club Website.

Deer Valley Trip March 29 to April 3, 2020.  This is a 5 night trip that was recently added and some details are still being worked out.  I will say that the prices are very good!  We should have trip registration up soon!  We are staying at the Zermatt Utah Resort outside of Deer Valley.  We will have lift options at Deer Valley and Park City/Canyons.  Deer Valley is an IKON Pass Resort and Park City is an EPIC Pass Resort.  An optional day trip is planned to Powder Mountain.

This is our first venture in a 5 night trip arriving on Sunday and departing on Friday.  From looking at 2021 Resort pricing, this may be the wave of the future?  We have a 5 night trip planned to Beaver Creek in 2021 extending to a 7 night trip at Breckenridge (1st week in March) or as a stand alone trip. Telluride will be our February Trip in 2021.

Crescent Ski Council Trips

Steamboat Camp is December 7-14, 2019.  This is a great Skiing, Riding, or Racing Improvement Camp as it includes 5 full days of lesson plans and a 6 day lift ticket.  There is flexibility in their program so you can cut back on lesson and lift ticket days.  Some of the best Ski and Ride Instructors in Colorado show up for this event.  It is run by Crescent Ski Council and has a lot of social mixers and fun activities.  Trip registrations start June 1st and the first 70 people to sign up get an $82 trip credit.  See trip details on the Club website.

Sun Peaks, BC is January 11-18, 2020.  This is CSC Ski Week and is in beautiful British Columbia.  The trip includes 6 nights at the Sun Peaks Grand Hotel and 1 night on the return at the Fairmont Vancouver Airport Hotel.  A 5 day lift is included with options for 3/4/6 day lifts.  Group Air is optional along with Travel Insurance.  You will need a valid US Passport with at least 6 months remaining at the end of the trip and a few clean pages.  Trip registration starts on June 1st.  See trip details on the Club website.

Crescent Ski Council and Holidaze Ski Tours Spain Adventure Trip March 17-25, 2020.  This is a fun packed trip with many options.  The trip registration form is currently being worked out and will be with Holidaze Ski Tours.  We will have registration information soon.  See trip details on the Club website.

5/25/19 NEWS

Our Western Trips are selling well!  All of our 2020 trips along with the Crescent Trips this coming season are on the Website.   We will be adding the Deer Valley/Park City Trip next week to roll out with the Crescent Trips on June 1st.  All of our trips are very competitively priced at good times and locations.  All of our trips for 2020 are on the IKON Pass!

We signed contracts on our 2021 Trips to Telluride and Breckenridge last week and are working on the Beaver Creek/Vail 5 night trip to run before and tie into Breckenridge. This can either be a stand alone trip or an extension to the Breckenridge Trip.  Start thinking of where you want to go in 2022?  Jackson Hole and Hokkaido Japan have been added to the short list so far!

Crescent Steamboat Camp is the 2nd week in December (7-14) and includes 5 full days on lessons and 6 days of lift tickets.  It is a Skier/Rider improvement opportunity and a great value with lots of social mixers and activities.  The first 70 people to sign up on June 1st get an $80 trip credit!  The first 70 spots typically fill before noon.

The Rafting Trip Flyer and Registration Form is on the Website!  Call or message your friends to join us again at ACE Adventure on August 2-4.  Cabin space is limited and will go fast but we need to get the word out!   Camping options are available for people wanting to save money!

The Aspen Snowmass Condos are full at 130 pillows sold (wait list only status) and there are only 6 pillows (spaces) left in the hotel rooms at the Stonebridge Inn at the 2018 price.  I am requesting Steve put the Stonebridge on a wait list to work out the remaining room assignments.

I have reserved 10 more pillows (5 rooms) at 2019 prices (+$135 per person lodging price) at the Stonebridge and will add them to the inventory when the remaining 2018 priced units are taken.  I added a 4 bedroom 3 bath condo at Top of the Village at 2019 prices (+$125 per person).  This is my condo and not listed on the Trip Registration.  I have space for 1 couple and 1 male single which I will recruit or select off of the wait list.  My long time condo mates (Kervick Family) needed a break from the parties.  They are on the trip in a 2 bedroom condo.

Counting single supplements (5) we are capping this trip at 168 pillows (163 people).  We will allow Club Members who acquire their own lodging to tag onto our Group Rate Lift tickets but addition to social activities will be limited to space available.  Social events held at Top of the Village are capped at the 163 number.  There has been no push back on the $35 Trip Dinner fee being charged with most people signing up for it.

Steamboat is filling nicely with 50% of lodging space gone (38 pillows sold out of 76 available).  I would like to add 12 more pillows to give us 88 and 4 full comps - we will see. This is going to be a fun trip with a lot of activities planned including Snowmobiling and a Day Trip to Winter Park.

Due to our Western Trips selling so quickly, we are adding a 5 night trip to Deer Valley/Park City for 32 pillows March 29 to April 3 (arriving Sunday and departing Friday).  An optional day trip to Powder Mountain has been planned.   We will be staying at the Zermatt Utah Resort.  This trip is scheduled to roll out June 1st.  This is a bonus trip for people who purchased either an IKON or EPIC pass!  I’m expecting to add pillows to this trip and to have some folks join me on a Saturday evening redeye flight to SLC to squeeze in an additional day of skiing!

That’s it for now.  Everyone has been sent login privileges to their Western Trip Management.   Please start logging in and looking at signups.   We will add Group Air and Ground Transfer options to the Western Trips around mid July.   Let me know if anyone has any questions.

Everyone have a happy and safe Memorial Day weekend!

Thank you,
