2024 Whitewater Rafting Adventure Recap
What a weekend! Our crew of adventurers headed to the New River Gorge in West Virginia for the Charlotte Ski and Snowboard Club’s whitewater rafting trip at ACE Adventure Resort August 9th-11th, 2024—and it was nothing short of unforgettable.
From the moment we arrived at our cozy cedar cabins, the laughter and energy set the tone. Friday night gave us the chance to reconnect with friends, welcome new members, and fuel up for the big day ahead.
Taking on the Rapids
Saturday morning, we suited up, grabbed our paddles, and set out for a full day on the lower New River Gorge, one of the most iconic whitewater experiences in the country. With expert guides leading the way, we navigated thrilling rapids, cheered each other on through the splashes, and soaked in the stunning canyon views between adrenaline rushes.

A Riverside Break
A riverside lunch mid-day gave us a chance to catch our breath, swap stories, and get ready for round two.
Evening Celebration at the Cabins
The evening back at ACE was all about celebrating. Over a lively Mexican feast at the cabins, we relived the day’s best moments—big splashes, surprise spins, and epic teamwork. By Sunday, everyone left a little tired, a lot sore, and grinning from ear to ear.
Memories That Last
This trip reminded us what our club is all about: adventure, camaraderie, and creating memories together on and off the slopes. Thank you to everyone who joined us—whether it was your first rafting run or your tenth—for making it such a special weekend.

Gear up for a full day of whitewater adventure with two rafting options to fit your thrill level:
Lower Gauley River (Class III–V) – Big Rapids to Smooth Water, Rinse & Repeat
A perfect balance of excitement and relaxation with 50 rapids and guaranteed BIG water with an awesome class V to finish off the ride. Rollercoaster rapids are followed by calmer stretches, where you can take in the stunning scenery. Ideal for both beginners and experienced rafters looking for an adventurous yet approachable experience.
Upper Gauley River (Class II–V) – Rock and Roll All the Way to Takeout
Non-stop action from start to finish with 50+ rapids and a 14-foot cascading waterfall. Known for its powerful rapids, technical drops, and heart-pounding pace, this stretch is a bucket-list run for experienced rafters ready to take on one of the East Coast’s most challenging rivers.

- Standard Lodging + Lower Gauley Rafting: $315 per person (double-occupancy room in a two-bedroom cabin)
- Standard Lodging + Upper Gauley Rafting: $385 per person (double-occupancy room in a two-bedroom cabin)
- Private Room + Lower Gauley Rafting: $520 per person (private room in a two-bedroom cabin)
- Private Room + Upper Gauley Rafting: $590 per person (private room in a two-bedroom cabin)
