February Newsletter With Upcoming Events, Trips, and Races

February 01, 2024 3:16 PM | Anonymous

We are entering our busy season with multiple Western ski trips to Colorado, New Mexico, and California while getting the details together for 2025 trips. Planning local trips has been harder because of weather, and heavy rain led to a January day trip cancelation.

Currently, the conditions are good at local resorts, but our volunteer trip leaders are busy with Western trips. We’ll continue offering discounted lift tickets for members on Crescent Series Race weekends.

Our next club meeting is on Monday, Feb 12th at Sugar Creek Brewery with a happy hour beforehand and yoga class afterward. These events are open to everyone, so bring a friend (or several).

Please take care and enjoy a great season on the slopes!

~ Tom Grayson, Club President

Racing & Discounted Lift Tickets

Want to make the slopes more exciting? Join our race team – or come up on race weekends to cheer on the racers and take advantage of discounted lift tickets! All ages and experience levels are welcome. We’re racing at Beech Mountain this weekend, but registration closed on Sunday.

There’s still time to register as racer or non-racer at the February 10th & 11th Sugar Mountain races and February 24th & 25th Appalachian Ski Mountain races. Registration opens two weeks before the race and closes the Sunday before each race.

Food Drives

We are collecting canned goods for Cooperative Christian Ministry’s food relief programs at club meetings and local events. They have specifically requested these high-need items:

15 oz no salt added canned beans and vegetables
15 oz no sugar added canned fruit
5 oz canned tuna in water

Donate two items to boost your door prize odds with an extra ticket. Or better yet, bring four items, and you’ll receive two extra tickets!

Elected Board Positions and Volunteer Opportunities

Want to be more involved with the club in 2024? Consider running for a board position during our April elections or volunteer to help us plan events and trips. Elected board positions include president, vice president, treasurer, and secretary. There are also opportunities to help out here and there or to assist the board with an eye on running in future years.
