    Come walk with us and learn about the interesting history of downtown Davidson. Afterwards, we’ll meet at Brickhouse Tavern for socializing. 

    Feel free to join us for one or both events. Please be there on time for the walk; we start promptly at 4 pm, and you won’t want to miss a single building or cornerstone during the two-mile walk. If you are just in it for the beer, we will see you at the Tavern at 5:30 pm!

    Guest Policy: This is an open event. Guests and members are welcome to attend.

    How to Find Us: The walk starts at stops at Brickhouse Tavern. You can't miss us once you get to the parking lot at the Brickhouse Tavern. A few of us will be in navy blue snowflake t-shirts. Call a leader if you can’t spot us!

    Health Restriction: You must be able to comfortably walk at least two miles.

    Join us for a happy hour and club meeting at Sugar Creek Brewing on Monday, September 9th from 5:30 to 7:30 PM. Members and guests are always welcome, so bring a friend (or several). You can attend one or both events. 

    • Happy Hour: We’ll start the evening at 5:30 PM with adult beverages and socializing.
       
    • Club Meeting: Our meeting begins at 6:30 PM. There will be light appetizers and a cash bar.

    Food Drive: Please bring nutritious canned goods for us to donate to Cooperative Christian Ministry’s food relief programs. They have specifically requested the following items:

    • 15 oz no salt added canned beans and vegetables
    • 15 oz no sugar added canned fruit
    • 5 oz canned tuna in water

    Parking: Park your car in the paid lot and come inside to grab one of our prepaid parking passes to put on your dash. There are also signs in the bar area with a QR code to register your vehicle with free parking as a brewery patron.

    Come bike the Virginia Creeper Trail with us on Saturday, September 28th! The 17-mile trek from Whitetop to Damascus is downhill and appropriate for all ages. With fall in the air, we’ll enjoy the colorful foliage on the trail. Then, we’ll end the day with a drink at Appalachian Heritage Distillery followed by dinner at Damascus Old Mill Inn on the river. 

    Blue Blaze Bike & Shuttle Service: Bring your own bike and safety gear or you can rent a bike from Blue Blaze Bike & ShuttleDO NOT WAIT TO RESERVE YOUR BLUE BLAZE BIKE AND/OR SHUTTLE SERVICE. Blue Blaze recommends making arrangements by mid-August since they often sell out. Call 800-475-5095 to reserve your bike and/or shuttle service.

    Cost: Blue Blaze charges $38 for an adult/teen bike rental and roundtrip shuttle service (ages 13 and up) and $34 for children (ages 12 and under). If you are bringing your own bike and only need shuttle service, it's $24 for adults/teens (age 13 and up) and $20 for children (ages 12 and under). Plan to pay for your drink(s) and dinner, too.

    How to Find Us: ARRIVE PROMPTLY AT 9:30 AM to check in at Blue Blaze. Look for our event leaders in club t-shirts with a snowflake QR code on the back. The shuttle leaves at 10:30 AM and takes about 35 minutes to reach Whitetop. We cannot wait for late arrivals. 

    Other Things to Bring: We will be on the trail for about five hours, so pack lunch, snacks, and water.

    Want a longer ride? Bike an additional 17 miles uphill to Abingdon on your own after our ride and shuttle with a friend or other local service.

    Prefer to make a weekend of it? Stay in the beautiful town of Abingdon and checkout the Barter Theater or choose a bed & breakfast in Damascus. There are multiple campgrounds in the vicinity, including Beartree Recreation Area. You could also hike at Mount Rogers or Grayson Highlands State Park

    Member Status & Registration: An active club membership and RSVP is required to attend this event. Members may bring one guest each. Provide their name and contact information (including an emergency contact) when you register.

    Registration Deadline: Click the blue "Register" button and complete the short form by Thursday, September 26th. Registration closes on Friday, September 27th.  

    Age & Health Policies: Children 17 and under are welcome to attend with a parent or legal guardian. Everyone must be able to comfortably bike the 17-mile downhill trek. If you have any health problems at all, please include these on your registration form. There is no cell coverage on most of the trail, but park staff patrol the trail. 

    Weather Policy: We may have to cancel with short notice if the weather doesn’t cooperate. Registrants will be notified via email 24-48 hours before the event if the forecast calls for rain or storms. 

    Cancellation Policy: If your plans change after you register, log in to the Member Portal and cancel your registration so we know not to expect you. If you reserved a bike/shuttle service, call Blue Blaze at 800-475-5095 ASAP so someone else can book your spot.

    The Catawba Riversweep is one day a year when citizens from all over the Catawba-Wateree River Basin come together to clean up on the same day. We are volunteering on Saturday, October 5th to help ensure local waterways look beautiful, are safe for swimming and fishing, and are free of pollution. 

    Cleanup Location: Our cleanup location is the Paw Creek Vineyards Boat Ramp on Lake Wylie in Charlotte, North Carolina. Lake Wylie is part of the 8,900 miles of waterways that make up the Catawba-Wateree Basin which runs throughout 26 counties and two states (NC/SC). This lake feeds into the main stem of the Catawba River and is an important waterway as it provides essential habitat, recreation through trails and parks, and becomes the source of drinking water for our neighbors downstream.

    Guest Policy: Club members may bring one guest each. When beginning the registration process through our website, include your guest’s name, email, phone number, t-shirt size, and emergency contact information. 

    Volunteer Options: 

    • Land Volunteer (pick up trash on the bank and river’s edge)
    • Motorboat Captain (bring your own motorboat to drive people and trash around)
    • Motorboat Passenger (get dropped off to pick up trash at various places; not guaranteed as it is dependent on how many motorboats are available)
    • Non-Motorized Watercraft (bring your own kayak, canoe, or other kind of individual boat to paddle around and pick up trash)

    How to Find Us: Meet us at the Vineyards Boat Ramp at 8:30 AM. Look for the ski pole with our banner. 

    What to Wear: Due to the nature of river cleanups, please be prepared to get dirty and/or wet regardless of the volunteer position you signed up for. Wear shoes and clothing you don't mind getting dirty and wet. Closed toe shoes are required. We DO NOT recommend Crocs.)

    What to Bring:

    • A full water bottle  
    • Recommended: Sunscreen and/or bug spray
    • Optional: Day pack to hold your personal belongings
    • Optional (but highly recommended): Change of clothes and towel

    What Catawba Riverkeeper Provides: 

    • All clean up materials, including  trash grabbers, gloves, and trash bags
    • Tarps for boat captains to protect their boats from the trash being collected
    • Water to refill your water bottle
    • Basic first aid and hand sanitizer
    • Instruction before and during the cleanup activity
    • Information about the Catawba Riverkeeper
    • An on-site bathroom
    • A Riversweep-Sized After Party
    • A free t-shirt to thank you for your time

    After Party Details: If you’re able, join us at the Boathouse in McAdenville from 11:00 am - 4:00 pm to hang out with some awesome people, listen to live music, play games, maybe participate in a raffle, and see some of our vendors. As a thank you for all your hard work, food and your first beer is on Catawba Riverkeepers!

    Age Policy: Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian at all times. 

    Registration Deadline: You must register by Saturday, September 21st. This gives us time to order t-shirts. 

    Weather Policy: The event may be canceled due to rain or storms. You will receive an email notice within 24-48 hours if we have to cancel.

    • Happy Hour and Gear Drop-Off: We’ll start the evening at 5:30 PM with adult beverages and socializing. This is when you can drop off your ski or snowboard gear. We will provide tags and enter your items onto a "sell list". As the seller, you are responsible for making sure that any equipment is not broken or malfunctioning.
       
    • Club Meeting and Gear Swap: Our meeting begins at 6:30 PM. There will be light appetizers and a cash bar. After the meeting is over, browse for stuff you need at great discounts! Sellers can cash out around 8 PM. 

    Food Drive: Please bring nutritious canned goods for us to donate to Cooperative Christian Ministry’s food relief programs. They have specifically requested the following items:

    The Crescent Ski Council (CSC) Annual Fall Conference is a fun weekend getaway with members of other ski clubs in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Enjoy the activities, trade show, dance, and beautiful mountain foliage with us!

    Friday Night Vendor Meet & Greet: Connect with the 2024 attending vendors at the Park Vista Hotel from 5:00-7:00 PM. Click here to view a PDF with more details.

    Saturday Activities: Choose from a guided hike in the Smokies or a free Ole Smoky Moonshine tour and tasting. Then, join us for a Ski Trade Show and DJ/Dance Party at Glenstone Lodge with free food, wine, and beer. Come dressed up in your Halloween’s finest!

Be sure to mention you are part of the Crescent Ski Council. Glenstone requires payment for the first night when you book; the remaining balance is due at check-in. You can book an extra night on Thursday if you’d like to arrive early and explore Gatlinburg on your own.

    Club Membership Requirement: You must be a club member to attend this trip. An annual single membership is only $30 or you can purchase a family membership for $50.

    Celebrate the holidays with us at Dilworth Neighborhood Grille on Thursday, December 19th, from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. Members and guests are welcome to attend, but RSVPs are required

    Meet us downstairs in the Baxter Room for socializing, an ugly sweater contest, and games. There will be appetizers and a cash bar.

    Ugly Sweater Contest: Show your holiday spirit and wear an ugly sweater if you want to participate in the contest. First and second place win prizes.

      Join us for a fun West Virginia weekend of skiing and riding at Snowshoe Mountain! Enjoy carving trails all weekend, and make some new friends at the 4:00-5:30 PM après ski party on Saturday. You can ski a half-day on Friday, all day Saturday, and five to six hours on Sunday before heading home. Silver Creek offers night skiing on Friday evening as well. 

      Registration Fee: $35 for teens and adults (ages 13+); $0 for children 12 and under (must be accompanied by parent or legal guardian)

      Lodging: We are staying at Allegheny Springs Lodge at 33 Allegheny Springs Lane Snowshoe, WV 24934. Located directly in Village Central and steps from Ballhooter Lift, you’ll experience mountaintop convenience and luxury at its finest.

      Check-in is Friday, January 10th and check-out is Sunday, January 12th. All lodging rates are estimates for a two-night stay. You can add a night on either end of the reservation provided space is available. The rates include cleaning and fees but do not include state and local taxes. 

      • Jr Classic Studio (sleeps 2-4): $614.50

        This unit has one queen bed, one sleeper sofa, an efficiency kitchen with an apartment-sized refrigerator, gas fireplace, and balcony. Our room block includes nine units.
      • Classic Studio (sleeps 2-4): $655.50

        This traditional full studio unit has one queen bed, one sleeper sofa, a full kitchen, living area with gas fireplace, and balcony. Our room block includes 11 units.
      • Classic One Bedroom Den Plus (sleeps 2-6): $960.50

        This unit has a private bedroom with two queen beds OR one queen bed and one sleeper sofa, a den area with a sleeper sofa, full kitchen, dining area and living area with a sleeper sofa, gas fireplace and balcony. Our room block includes four units.
      • Classic Three Bedroom 2 Bath Condo (sleeps 6-10): $1886.50

        This unit comes equipped with a full-size kitchen as well as a kitchenette open to a spacious living area. There are three queen size beds and a sleeper sofa in the living room and bedroom of the master room. The bathrooms are finished with a granite vanity top and tile throughout. Other notable features include an outside balcony, flat screen television in the living and sleeping areas, and gas burning fireplace. Our room block includes two units.

      Children/teens ages 13-18 must be registered as your guest(s) with an additional $35 registration fee per person when you sign up. There is no registration fee for children ages 12 and under; simply note their name(s)/age(s) on the online registration form. 

      IMPORTANT: You will receive an automated confirmation email immediately; however, please contact Tom Grayson at tom@tomgrayson.com after you register and pay your registration fee to discuss lodging options and the room block booking code. When you call Snowshoe Mountain Resort to reserve your unit, mention you are part of the Charlotte Ski and Snowboard Club and provide the booking code. 

      • Specific rooms are not guaranteed as they are reserved on a first-come, first-serve basis. You are encouraged to contact Tom first before you register to check availability. 

      • Everyone in a unit must be registered with the club through our website here and pay their $35 registration/activity fee before they book their unit with Snowshoe Reservations. 

      • The total unit cost is charged through Snowshoe Mountain Reservations with 50% down on your credit card. The unit balance is due at check in. 

      • Snowshoe Mountain Reservations will take multiple credit cards from people in your unit when you reserve your unit and at check-in. 

      Lift Tickets: There are several lift tickets options for advanced purchase directly from Snowshoe or Ikon Pass. 

      • Snowshoe Day Lift Tickets: Rates and availability TBD; purchase link will be available at a later date (closer to season opening). 

      • Snowshoe 24/25 Flex 3 Pass: $199 per person for three days of skiing, including Silver Creek. Purchase your Flex 3 Pass now, since these passes typically sell out by September.

      • Ikon Pass: Snowshoe is an Ikon Resort accepting all pass types (Full, Base Plus, Base, and Session Passes).
         

      Transportation: Ground transportation is not provided, but you are welcome to arrange carpools on your own. Login as a member and click the light blue link by the "Registered" line (it’s above the blue rectangle register button on this page) that shows the total number of people registered. This will list every member who signed up (and opted to show their name to other members). Then, you can click their name to easily send a message through our member directory.

      How to Find Us: Details on where to meet us for the Saturday 4:00-5:30 PM après ski party we be emailed to registrants closer to the trip.

      Guest Policy: Club members may bring one or more guests each, provided you pay an additional registration/activity fee for each guest. Everyone in your group must pay the $35 fee. 

      Teens and Children: All ages are welcome, but teens and children (18 years old and younger) must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. You must be at least 19 years old to attend this trip without a parent or legal guardian.   

      Equipment Rentals: Rental equipment is available at Snowshoe Mountain resort. 

      Cancellation Policy and Refunds: The trip will be held rain or shine. The $35 trip registration fee is non-refundable, expect in the instance where our room blocks are sold out. If no lodging is available, the club treasurer can refund your fee via mailed check. If you cancel lodging with Snowshoe more than 15 days in advance, you may receive a refund minus a $100 cancellation fee as determined by Snowshoe Mountain’s policies. This is not guaranteed, and the club has no control over their policies or decisions.
