Schweitzer: Big Mountain. Small Lines. Huge Memories.

Tucked away in the breathtaking Selkirk Mountains of northern Idaho, Schweitzer Mountain Resort surprised and delighted our crew with big terrain, stunning views, and a laid-back vibe that made for the perfect winter escape. With over 2,900 acres of skiable terrain—including open bowls, tree-lined runs, and expert-level challenges—this trip gave skiers and snowboarders of all levels something to love. For the more adventurous, a backcountry cat skiing tour offered untouched powder and adrenaline-pumping descents.

But Schweitzer wasn’t just about the snow (though it was incredible). Our ski-in/ski-out accommodations made it easy to hit first tracks, while the cozy après-ski scene brought everyone together for great food, cold drinks, and warm conversation. From snowmobiling to snowshoeing and scenic views, there was plenty to explore off the slopes, too.

According to members, Schweitzer’s welcoming locals, excellent grooming, and no-lift-line atmosphere made it feel like we’d discovered a best-kept secret. Jennifer Martin called it “a hidden gem” with “great tree skiing and no lines,” while others appreciated the smooth planning that made it all effortless.

Whether you came for the challenge or the charm, Schweitzer proved to be a destination that delivered unforgettable moments—and just might become a new favorite.

Why They’d Go Back in a Heartbeat

Schweitzer is a remote location that offers a large variety of blue, black diamond, and double black diamond trails. The resort does an outstanding job grooming, even the steep slopes. The local restaurants offered a good variety of choices and provided very good food at surprisingly reasonable prices. All of the local staff (hotel, restaurant, liftees, shops) are friendly and helpful. These factors combined made for a wonderful week.
