A WORD FROM OUR PRESIDENT
Greetings Ski Club Members and Friends!
We had fun this spring and summer at our annual lake party, Queen’s Cup Steeplechase, ACE Resort whitewater rafting weekend, live music at Lake Norman Brewery, and the Tour de Turns benefiting Loaves & Fishes/Friendship Trays. I’m excited to kick off the new season during our September 13th Happy Hour and Club Meeting at Sugar Creek Brewing. Please bring a friend and canned food for FeedNC. Registrations are under way for our 2023-2024 Western trips. Join us at Steamboat, Taos, Telluride, Aspen Snowmass, Beaver Creek/Vail, and South Lake Tahoe. And don’t forget to register for the October 27th-29th Crescent Ski Council Fall Conference in Gatlinburg, Tennessee before discounted room rates expire on Tuesday, September 19th.
~ Tom Grayson, Club President
PS - I welcome any questions and comments at tom@tomgrayson.com.
Catawba River Kayaking & Tubing
Saturday, September 9th
Have your own kayak or inner tube? Enjoy the Catawba River with us on Saturday, September 9th! Meet us at the Lake Wylie Dam Access at 10 AM. We’ll gather for lunch and drinks if people want to hang out after our adventure, too.
Club members are welcome to bring a guest, but please RSVP so our event leaders know who to expect. Plus, if we have to cancel because of rain, it makes it easier to give you a heads up.

Happy Hour & Club Meeting
Wednesday, September 13th
Join us at Sugar Creek Brewing for a Happy Hour and Club Meeting on Wednesday, September 13th. Meet us at the bar at 5:30 pm, and we’ll head to the event room for our meeting at 6:30 pm.
Guests are always welcome! Socialize with members while learning more about our upcoming events, 2024 Western trips, and the regional ski scene. As always, there will be light appetizers, a cash bar, and door prizes. Janet Barnes, our social committee chair, will offer some gentle yoga, too.
Food banks are experiencing increased demand, so we’re collecting canned food and non-perishable items for FeedNC. Bring two cans for an extra door prize ticket or donate five cans for two extra tickets.
