December Newsletter With Upcoming Events, Trips, and Races

December 01, 2023 4:52 PM | Anonymous

Cold weather is finally here, and ski resorts are opening for the season! December is a busy month with a Cornelius Dance Night, rescheduled Warren Miller Film Showing, Holiday Party, and first race of the season at Appalachian Ski Mountain. We plan to start regional day trips in January with a midweek Winterplace trip.

Our western trips are mostly full, with a female single space open for Beaver Creek/Vail. There is still availability for Lake Tahoe until we make final lodging cuts mid-December, and you can be the first person on the waitlists for Aspen Snowmass and Telluride.

Scroll down for more details or visit our website at CLTsnow.com. We wish you a wonderful holiday season and look forward to seeing you at one of our events or on the slopes!

~ Tom Grayson, Club President

We are hosting another dance series in January, with the first class taking place after our club meeting at Sugar Creek Brewing on January 8th. This will be a free class for all members and guests.

The other two classes will be held at Dynamic Ballroom on January 15th and 22nd at 7:30 pm. Stay tuned for more details!

Canned Food Drives

We are collecting canned goods for Cooperative Christian Ministry’s food relief programs at our Warren Miller film showing and holiday celebration. They specifically requested the following nutritious items:

  • 15 oz no salt added canned beans and vegetables
  • 15 oz no sugar added canned fruit
  • 5 oz canned tuna in water

Donate two items to boost your door prize odds with an extra ticket. Or better yet, bring four items, and you’ll receive two extra tickets!

2023-2024 Western Ski Trips

Don’t miss out on our Western trips with discounted base packages that include lodging, social events, and ski in/out access (or a quick private shuttle to the slopes). We have space for 10 or more people at South Lake Tahoe’s Heavenly trip, but only until mid-December when we cut excess rooms. There’s one single female spot available for Beaver Creek/Vail. You can also sign up to be the first person on the waitlist for Telluride and Aspen Snowmass.

Consider Running for a Board Position or Volunteering Next Year

Want to be more involved with the club in 2024? Consider running for a board position or volunteering to help us plan club events and trips. Elections are coming in April 2024 for next year’s elected board leadership positions, including president, vice president, treasurer, and secretary. Although many current board members wish to return next year, there is always room for new blood. There are also opportunities for new people to assist the board, with an eye on running in future years, or to help out here and there.

Thank you to the members who volunteered to serve on the nomination committee: Jane Bycroft, Dale Chinault, Mary Christianson, Renée Phillips, and Alisa Weber. Please get in touch with Mary Christianson at 734-761-5734 if you would like to chat about opportunities. You are also welcome to contact any nominating committee member to share your vision for the club and any special talents or expertise.

$10 Ski Tickets at Appalachian Ski Mountain This Weekend

Celebrate Appalachian Ski Mountain’s 62nd year of family fun as they roll back ticket prices on Saturday, December 2nd and Sunday, December 3rd to only $10! Tickets are for day sessions only and must be purchased by midnight the day before.
