November Newsletter With Upcoming Events and Trips

November 01, 2023 8:00 AM | Anonymous

November Greetings! It’s a busy month for us! Our club meeting is on a new date — Monday, November 6th. We are adopting a more action-oriented format and breaking into groups based on your interests.

Western ski resorts have experienced early snowstorms and are already snowmaking, with projected openings in three weeks. Regional resorts plan to open then as well, including Appalachian Ski Mountain, Sugar, Beech, Winterplace, and Snowshoe. It’s the perfect time to learn new skills, and every resort has ski schools to help you safely reach your goals. We will schedule club day trips to various resorts after the holidays, weather permitting.

I hope to see you at our Warren Miller Premiere "All Time" playing at the Visulite Theatre on Thursday, November 16th. Get your tickets online now since there’s only one showing, and ticket sales at the door may be limited.

Also, add our holiday celebration to your calendars for Thursday, December 14th! It's downstairs at the Dilworth Neighborhood Grille and free to current club members and guests (RSVP required).

~ Tom Grayson, Club President

Warren Miller Film Showing
Thursday, November 16th

Join us Thursday, November 16th to watch Warren Miller’s “All Time” at Visulite Theatre in Charlotte! Doors open at 6 PM and the film starts at 7 PM.

We’ll celebrate the birth of ski towns like Sun Valley and Aspen, icons and innovators like the original hotdoggers, and the most outlandish locations ever skied. Then, catch up with Maine’s finest athlete of today, Donny Pelletier, and meet the next generation at Woodward Park City. Through it all, Jonny Moseley and special guests will share their own stories.

There is a cash bar, but Visulite Theatre does not have food available for purchase. The club is not providing food, so bring your own brown bag dinner or snacks.

Happy Hour & Holiday Celebration
Th
ursday, December 14th

Save the date for a Happy Hour and Holiday Celebration on Thursday, December 14th at Dilworth Neighborhood Grille! Members and guests are welcome to attend but we need you to RSVP so we can plan our food order.

Happy hour starts at the bar at 5:30 pm. We’ll head to the Baxter Room downstairs at 6:30 pm. There will be socializing, games, an ugly sweater contest, appetizers, a cash bar, canned food drive, and door prizes.

Canned Food Drives

We are collecting canned goods for Cooperative Christian Ministry’s food relief programs at our club meetings, Warren Miller film showing, and holiday celebration. They specifically requested the following nutritious items since the people they serve often have health conditions:

  • 15 oz no salt added canned beans and vegetables
  • 15 oz no sugar added canned fruit
  • 5 oz canned tuna in water

Bring two items to boost your door prize odds with an extra ticket. Or better yet, bring four items, and you’ll receive two extra tickets!
